Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is soon going to reconstitute State Planning Board.
The State government Wednesady dissolved the State Planning Board. Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the proposal for dissolution of this planning body.
Sources in BJP say that party’s State president Manmohan Samal is going to be appointed as the chairman of the plan panel. Samal, under whose leadership the party has come to power would be rehabilitated as the chief of the Board. Samal has lost the election from Chandbali assembly constituency.
Under BJD regime the the Board chairman post was held by chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Party leaders like Surendra Nayak, Sanjay Das Burma had been rehabilitated as vice chairman. BJP government, however, is likely to appoint a full time chairman.
Earlier, during Congress regime, former chief minister Nandini Satpathy was the Board chairman for some time.
Meanwhile, the State government is planning to reconstitute the Board in the style of NITI Aayog, which has come into existence in place of Planning Commission after Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014.
