Bhubaneswar: Coal India Ltd. (CIL) is going to increase coal prices by Rs 10 per tonne from April 16, next.

The CIL board has approved the price hike for both coking coal and non-coking coal.

Sources in CIL said the price hike is aimed at contributing to the corpus of Coal Mines Pension Scheme -1998.

CIL has slipped its production target by 7% in FY 2025. The company reported a production of 681 million tonnes against the target of 838 million tonnes during the fiscal.

CIL has set a production target of 875 million tonnes and dispatch target of 900 million tonnes in FY 2026.
