Bhubaneswar: National Beacon, a new English daily newspaper was launched, here on Tuesday.Gracing the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest Odisha Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, unvailded the first issue of the newspaper in the presence of former President of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee Prasad Harichandan, BJP Senior Leader Mahesh Mohanty, eminent academic Prof. (Dr.) Mrinal Chaterjee, and senior journalist Sanat Mishra.While National Beacon Editor, Dilip Kumar Bisoi presided over the meeting, the Founder of the newspaper Sheikh Riaj Mohammad and Publisher Ms. Masuma Yasmin were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Revenue Minister Pujhari said National Beacon should strive to keep the value and ethics of journalism to win the heart of the readers.
Congress senior leader Harichandan hoped that National Beacon true to its motto -We Count What Matters You- should raise the issues of the people and show path to development.
Academic Prof. Chaterjee said truth and justice should guide the media. Stating that there is a space for print media newspaper amist the cacophony of social media as it focuses on in-depth information.
The event which was followed by a dance and song programme by Tansen Singh and Musir was anchored by Miss Prakruti Mardaraj.
