Bhubaneswar: The vice chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) of the state, Shyam Sunder Patnaik, has resigned from his post. Patnaik has send his resignation letter to the governor SC Jamir, who has accepted it with immediate effect.

The state government has appointed the state technical education and skill development secretary Sanjay Singh as the in charge vice chancellor of the BPUT till placement of a new full time vice chancellor. The government has also appointed Prashant Patra as the new registrar of the university.
BPUT is the university which controls all the government and private engineering and management colleges in the state.
