Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Plan expenditure in 2017-18 has become Rs.51,118 crore, registering a growth rate of 16.13% over 2016-17. The Plan expenditure in 2016-17 was Rs 49,844 crore.

The expenditure on social development and social security is Rs 23,070 crore, which is 23.45% higher compared to 2016-17. The expenditure in agriculture and allied sector is 11,365 crore, registering a growth of 4% over the previous year.

The spending in infrastructure is Rs 12,228crore, which is 5.20% more than the previous years Rs 11,623 crore.

The total revenue collections during the year 2017-18 has increased by 19% to Rs 36,630crore. This was Rs 30,895 crore in 2016-17. The own tax and non-tax revenue is Rs  28,662 crore and Rs8047 crore during 2017-18 against Rs22,852 crore and Rs8043 crore in 2016-17 respectively. The growth is more than 25% over the previous year. Despite economic slow down, the revenue from mines has become Rs 6038 crore, up by 22% over 2016-17.

The government spending during 2017-18 was discussed at secretary level meeting chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi. The finance principal secretary, TK Pandey appraised the meeting about the government expenditure during the year. Higher education additional chief secretary GVV Sharma, forest and environment additional chief secretary Suresh Mohapatra, MSME additional chief secretary LN Gupta and other principal secretaries and secretaries of various departments were present.
