Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Tuesday announced that it will stage protest against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel across the state from September 7 to 9. The activists of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal and Biju Chatra Janata Dal will stage protests at various places in the state from 10 am to 12 noon in phased manner on September 7,8 and 9, 2018. The party will also organize programmes at major petrol pumps to create awareness among the fuel consumers regarding the price hike.
The Biju Mahila Janata Dal president Pramila Mallik, two senior vice presidents Arun Sahu and Sanjaya Dasburma along with Biju Yuva Janata Dal president Amresh Patri, Biju Chatra Janata Dal Rana Pratap Patra and chief spokesperson Sasmit Patra, lambasted the BJP -led NDA government for the fuel price hike. They said that the prices of petrol and diesel has reached to an all time record. The high fuel prices have started having its impact on other essential commodities. The BJD leaders challenged the union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan to include fuel prices under GST regime if the Central government feels that the price rise is due to the high state VAT.
