Bhubaneswar: Odisha has become the ‘Partner State’ in the Indus Food Meet 2019. The two-day mega food international event, which going to be held from January 14 at India Exposition Mart of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh, is being organised by Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and union commerce ministry.
Odisha minister for MSME Prafulla Samal and MSME additional chief secretary LN Gupata Thursday reviewed the preparation for the state’s participation in the Meet. The minister said that the this is an initiative to promote India as a strong exporter of food and beverage products to the world.
The 2nd edition of Indus Food Meet is hosting over 600 most prominent global buyers from food and beverage industry from over 60 countries. Indus Food is conceived to create a global food and beverage market place in India, in line with SIAL, ANUGA & Gulf Food. It would be a great opportunity for the Agri-exporters of Odisha to showcase their products to the prominent buyers of the world.
Gupta said that as a ‘Partner State’, Odisha will be setting up its own Pavilion with 30 exhibitors showcasing various processed food items of the state like spices, cashew, confectionery items, processed agro food.
A Seminar on “Potential and prospects of Food Processing Industry in Odisha” is also being organized during the inaugural ceremony on 14th January, 2019. Directorate of Horticulture and APICOL along with local industry will showcase the processed agro-food items as well as spices that are produced in Odisha. Besides, the business delegates going from the states will have B2B meetings with investors/entrepreneurs of other states and countries.
“The event will boost the confidence of our exhibitors as they can connect with their global counterparts in their home country which will pave the path to better utilization of the resource”, Gupta said.
