Bhubaneswar: Coming under pressure from enforcing authorities, Sanatan Mahakud, the founder of Jana Samrudhi Party, has resigned from the party president post. Even though Mahakud is saying that he has resigned on health ground, the political buzz here is that the independent legislator of Odisha Assembly has to take the decision under compulsion.
Last week, the Income Tax sleuths raided Mahakud’s Maa Kuanri Transport office as part of their searches of the offices of Indrani Patnaik and DR Patnaik mines.
Political observers believe that the raids were conducted on behalf of the Modi government at the Centre to cow down the Congress and Mahakud. The Patnaiks are relatives of Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnik. And, Mahakud’s Maa Kuanri Transport is engaged in Patnaiks mines for transportation of minerals. There is talk going on that Niranjan is forging an alliance between Congress and Mahakuda’s Jana Samrudhi Party . The alliance betwee Congress and Jana Samrudhi would spoil BJP’s winning prospects in Keonjhar district.
Mahakud , who is now an independent MLA of Odisha Assembly, has sent his papers to the working committee of the party.
Mahakud has said in a press statement that he has resigned from the party president as he is not able to discharge his duty properly due to health problem. The legislator who has undergone a spinal surgery recently has stated that his health condition is deteriorating ever since he has undergone the surgery.
Jana Samrudhi Party is a regional outfit registered with the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Party’s aims and objectives are to work for development of Odisha and Keonjhar district in particular.
