New Delhi: Central Board of IT & Customs chairman Pranab Das has become the director of world’s most prestigious customs body World Customs Organisation (WCO) by defeating UK’s nominee by 108/68 votes.
Belgium’s Brussels headquartered WCO is an international outfit engaged in facilitation of customs disputes.
“Mr Pranab Kumar Das, chairman CBIC, India, has won the election to the post of director, compliance & facilitation at WCO for a term of 5 years. He garnered 108 votes against UK candidate who got 68 votes”, said CBIC in a tweet.
Pranab, a graduate from BJB College, Bhubaneswar, got his PG degree in economics from JNU, New Delhi. He was appointed as chairman, CBIC in December 2018.
