Malkangiri: After completing a diploma course from Central Institute of Hospitality Management, he joined Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), a state owned institution, to did his post graduate in IT & management. After a brief stint in Infosys as a trainee and Ultratech Cement as assistant IT manager, he though he could make quick bucks by using his education.

Tech-savvy Supravat Mohapatra landed himself in the cyber crime world in his early twenties. He started looting people by using his IT skill. However, lucked failed him on Thursday when the sleuths of Malkangiri police cyber cell laid their hand on his collar.

The team led by inspector SS Tripathy arrested the 23-year-old Supravat who hails from Hiranyapada village under Satyabadi police limits in Puri district. The cyber criminal was found be involved in at least six cases in the state. While two cases have been registered in Malkangir, one each in Cuttack, Jajpur, Gajapati and Puri district. Police said he has also links with cyber crminals of Jharkhand. The police have settled the six cycber fraud cases and refunded Rs 2.96 lakh recovered to the victims.
