Kota (Rajasthan): Don’t refuse to accept coins. For, that may land you in jail.
At least four traders of Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district were booked by the police for refusing to accept coins. They were booked under Section 489 of the IPC and Section 6 of the Coinage Act-1971, according to Bakani police. The accused were identified as Hemraj Gandhi, Kailesh Gupta, Sumit Jain and Ramvilas Ghatiya.
It was on a complaint case filed by on Altaf Hussain, a shop keeper at Bakani town, the local court had directed the police for the action.
Hussain had alleged that the traders resued to accept coins whenever he visited them for the purchase of goods.
Hussain said that he ran a small shop and most of his customers paid him in coins. So, he too purchase commodities in coins.
The police is investigating the case and so far no arrest or detention has been done.
