Bhubaneswar: Four senior executives of public sector undertakings are in the race for the CMD post of Central-sector National Aluminium Company Ltd.(Nalco). The SAIL’s commercial director Soma Mandal, Nalco’s finance director Sridhar Patra, Mecon’s CMD Atul Bhat and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPC) finance director Shiva Shunmuganathan were shortlisted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB)for the interview on Wednesday.
The PESB is going to give its recommendation after which the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet headed by prime minister will take a final call.
However, Sridhar Patra and Soma Mandal are considered to be the front runner for the Nalco top post. Soma Mandal, who started her career as graduate engineer trainee in Nalco, was the director commercial before she shifted to SAIL. Patra, who had worked with Odisha Mining Corporation and Indian Rare Earth and THDC India, joined Nalco on September 1, 2018.
Nalco’s incumbent CMD TK Chand, who joined the aluminium company on July 27, 2015, is going to complete his tenure on November 30, 2019.
