Mumbai: The composer of immortal melodies like Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein…is no more. Khayyam passed away after a prolonged illness at Sujay Hospital in suburban Juhu, here on Monday. He was 92.
Padma Bhushan Mohammed Zahur Hashmi, popularly known as Khayyam, had made a niche for himself in the Bollywood music world with his composition in classic films like Umarao Jaan, Noorie, Trishul, Shola Aur Shabnam and Amitav Bacchhan starter Khabi Kabhi. He was 92. He was also a Sangeet Natak Academi Award recipient.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday.
