Bhubaneswar: On holy Jamashtami day last month when Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik had appealed to the people of Puri city, particularly those living around the temple, to part with their land for beautification of Jaganath temple little he expected that people in large number will come forward to part with their land.
But today when he was told that 75% of the private lands required for acquisition came without any hassles as people volunteered gave their land. “As you all remember, I requested you away their land.
An overwhelmed chief minister Naveen Pattanaik said on Monday ” I am very much obliged that you all kept my humble request and voluntarily gave away your lands for the welfare and beautification of our Puri temple. Odisha will never forget and will always remember your sacrifice you did for the benefit of Puri.”
” People have voluntarily offered 75% of the private land required for acquisition. it’s not only a proud moment for Odisha but also a great example for the entire nation. People have left their houses, hotels, lodges which also included some monasteries as well, for the sake of our own Lord Jagannath. “
“In this special occasion I would also like to thank the district administration and the police who ungrudgingly performed their duties even Sundays and other holidays.
