Bhubaneswar: The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police Thursday introduced women Special Police Officer (SPO) system inducting 250 women of 56 organisations including colleges, IT and call centers.
The twin cities police commissioner, Sudhansu Sarangi, said the SPOs will have power to arrest accused persons if required.
He said the voluntary SPOs will be engaged for 3 months to start with. The tenure will be increased.
