Bhubaneswar: Odissi dance gurus Rupashree Mohapatra and Bharat Charan Giri were conferred with the Kharavela Awards(Guru) while Odissi dance exponents Manjushree Panda and Gaurishankar Das were conferred with Nalco Kharvela Award(Dancer) by the National Aluminium Company Ltd.(Nalco)
Nalco as part of its CSR activities has instituted Awards to be presented to artists, institutions / NGOs and eminent scholars to promote Odissi dance, contribution towards rehabilitation of differently-abled persons and for propagating Sanskrit literature.
On the occasion of its 40th Foundation Day Celebrations, here on Tuesday, the Company also honoured Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra and Raghunath Panda with Nalco Kalidas Awards for teaching Sanskrit and literature.
‘NALCO Smiles Award’ was awarded to Ganjam Orthopedically Handicapped Welfare Association for their efforts towards resettlement and rehabilitation of differently-abled children/persons. All the awardees were honoured with a cash award and citation.
Addressing the occasion,Nalco CMD Sridhar Patra praised all the awardees for their significant contributions in various fields and highlighted the company’s vision stepping on to the 40th year of its operations. Patra said said, ‘’NALCO has come a long way over the last 4 decades. We celebrate the Foundation Day to rejoice our association with the organization and also to renew our commitment to help the Company soar to greater heights of glory.
