Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government Thursday cleared three projects worth Rs 17, 833 crore. The projects are in aluminium, power and steel. The projects will create job opportunity for 6539 persons.
The industry minister, Dibya Sankar Mishra, said the Hindalco is proposing to set up a 2 mtpa refinery at Kansariguda in Rayagada with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore which will create job opportunities for 4250 persons. The NTPC proposing to expand its generation capacity of its Talcher Thermal Power Station at Talcher in Angul district with an investment of Rs 7,698.46 crore. Rungta Mines will invest Rs.2,135 crore in the expansion of its steel plant at Kamalanga in Sundergarh. The capacity of the steel plant will be enhanced from 0.27 mtpa to 0.9 mtpa. This will create employment of 2288 persons.
The High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting was chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
The chief minister also took stock of the follow up of investment intents received during Make In Odisha 2016 and 2018. Odisha has seen diversified industrial development in recent years with grounding of projects in textile & apparel, chemicals & petrochemicals, tourism and food processing sectors.
Principal secretary industries Hemant Sharma presented a road map for Make In Odisha 2020 which included outreach activities, industrial infrastructure development and policy interventions.
The chief secretary Asit Tripathy took a separate meeting on allotment of land and water to the industries. Additional chief secretary forest and environment Mona Sharma,industries principal secretary Hemant Sharma, labour secretary Anu Garg, Idco CMD Sanjay Singh and IT special secretary Manoj Mishra were present.
