Bhubaneswar: The three-day Rajarani Music Festival got off on the premises of famous Rajarani Temple, here on Saturday.
Karnataki music exponent Dr. S. Soumya opened the evening with Batapi Ganapati based on raag Hansadhwani. She also presented Purba Kalyani Mishra raag. Pt. Ambar S Kanan supported her in behela and Pt. P Sundaram in mrudangam and Pt.K Gopal Krishnan in manjira.
The event was followed by Behela recitation by Guru Kailash Patra. He played on different Hindustan classical raag on strings. Patra was supported by Kalpana on tanpura and Pt. Ramdas Palsule on tabla.
The State tourism and culture minister, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation chairperson Srimayee Mishra, housing and urban development secretary G Mathivathan, tourism director Sachin Ramachandra Yadav and GKCM Odissi Research Centre chief executive Sangita Gosain graced the inaugural ceremony. Anuja Tarini Mishra anchored the programme.
