Bhubaneswar: A day after the State higher education minister Arun Sahoo announced that MLAs would be no more the president of college managing committess, the Odisha government Friday dissolved the governing bodies or managing committees of non-government aided degree colleges.
While dissolving the governing bodies, the government has asked the additional district magistrates and sub-collectors to take over the college managements as president of their locality.
However, the Autonomous Colleges and the colleges established by minority communities have been kept out of the purview of the decision.
The notification said the order comes into force with immediate effect.
Sahoo, while addressing a meeting of the Odisha Parents Association, here on Thursday, had said that the department has decided that no elected representative or local MLA would be allowed in the governing bodies of degree colleges.
