Kolkata: The prime minister of India, Narendr Modi, Friday announced Rs 1000 cross advance to Cyclone Amphan affected West Bengal for immediate relief and restoration works.
He also announced ex gratia financial assistant of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
Earlier in the morning, the PM undertook an aerial survey of Cyclone Amphan affected areas in the State.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and governor received the prime minister on his arrival at the city airport.
