Bhubaneswar : Worried over low Buget expenditure in April -June quarter of current fiscal, the Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi has directed the department secretaries, particularly the line departments like the works, urban development, panchayatiraj and drinking water, water resources to expeidite developmental works and enhance their expenditure. Majhi took a meeting of all secretaries, here on Tuesday.

The State’s capital expenditure is likely to decline by more than a fifth year -on -year in Q1 of FY 25. The decline is due to general elections and slower disbursement of capex loan to the State by the Centre.

The CM urged the secretaries of infrasture related departments to hire required additional technical manpower to speed up works. He said this would gernerate employments.

Majhi also said that all the departments should work with a team spirit to achieve the State government’s development targets for 2036 and 2047.

The finance principal secretary Saswat Mishra said the total income in Q1of FY25 has become Rs 57,085 crore, up by 11. 42 % as compared to Rs 51,234 crore during the same period last fiscal.

Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, development commissioner Anu Garg, ACS to CM Nikunja Dhal were present.
