Bhubaneswar: Chandrayaan-2 hero Dr. K.Sivan will be in the city on September 21.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman is going to grace the 8th Annaual Convocation of Indian Institute of Tehnology-Bhubaneswar(IIT-B), to be held in the campus at Argul on the outskirt of Bhubanewar city, next Saturday.
Sivan along with other dignitaries would hand over the gold medals, degrees and doctoral certificates to the students. The institute is running courses in B.Tech, M.Tech and MSc. besides PhD.
Chandrayaan-2, the Isro’s ambitious moon landing mission, narrowly missed the success as it failed to soft land Vikram lander near the South Pole of the moon. Notwithstanding the failure of Chandrayaan-2, Sivan came out as a national hero for the entire country sympathised with him and his team of scientists and technocrats.
The IIT-B, meanwhile, is bracing up to receive the main architect behind India’s moon mission Chandrayana-2. The country’s premier engineering institution in the city is following a tradition of wearing Indian traditional attire instead of ceremonial convocation robes. The dress code for the girls students this year is Sarees with golden border and for boys it is Kurta. However, the choice of dress colour is off white, white or creamy in that order.
