Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Monday said that the government is going to recruit as many as 6185 medical professionals this year. According to him, 5700 paramedics besides 266 dental, 169 homeopathic and 50 Ayurvedic doctors would be posted in the state this year.
Patnaik, while handing over appointment letters to 581 doctors at a function, here on Monday, said with the introduction of placement based incentive system the vacancies of doctors in remote and difficult areas has declined. Government initiatives like Medical Service Cadre, transparent transfer policy, additional weightage in PG examination for doctors working in far off areas, corpus fund for KBK and KBK Plus district has yielded encouraging results in remote areas like Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.
The chief minister said that the achievement in reduction in IMR rate, and the success in immunisation, institutional delivery, and other health related indicators are very encouraging.
The state health minister, Pratap Jena, secretary PK Meherda and health mission director Salini Pandit were present.
