Bhubaneswar: Hindalco Industries chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said the Company’s green field alumina refinery project in Odisha’s Raygada district would be commission by March 2027. According to him, the first phase of 8.5 lakh tonnes will go into stream by then.
The Hindalco chairman said that there is a proposal to ramp up the Aditya Aluminium smelter in Odisha by 2 lakh tonnes capacity. The expansion capacity would be powered by green energy.
Hindalco is going to invest Rs 84,000 crore for expansion of Aditya Flat Rolled Products Plant and the new refineey in Odisha besides the Novelis Inc’s Bay Minnette project in US and other expansions across the India business.
Mangalam was addressing the Company’s 65th AGM.
Utkal Alumina, a Birla Group Company, has an alumina smelter in Kashipur Block of Rayagada. It is now setting up another alumina refinery at nearby Kansariguda in the same district. The Group has a smelter at Hirakud in Sambalpur district.
