Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state president of Samajwadi Party (SP), Rabi Behera, has demanded that the Odisha government should declare reservation in private sector jobs following the line of Bihar government. He pointed out that the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday has announced the implementation of 50% reservation in out sourcing jobs and private sector. The Bihar government has taken this decision keeping in view that there is a massive privatization in the country.
In Odisha there is only 11.25% reservation for OBC reservation in employment and no reservation in the field of admission into educational institutions. Though SC/ST and OBC population of the state is around 90%, the welfare measure taken in the field of reservation by the state government not proportionate, said Behera.
He has urged the state government to take steps for implementation reservation in private sector and out
sourcing of job.
Stating that massive privatization is taking place at the national level and Odisha stands third in attracting private capital for industrialization next to Gujurat and Maharashtra, the SP leader said, possibility of employment opportunity in coming days in private sector looks bright in Odisha. Hence, he added, the government should extend reservation into private sector for SC, ST & OBCs in the state. He also requested all MLAs and MPs and social justice forces to rise above political differences for pressurizing the government for implementation of reservation
in private sector.
