Rourkela: The Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) crossed a new milestone on Thursday when it produced 10,615 tonnes of crude steel which is the highest ever single day production from SMS-II. With this RSP achieved another historic feat by notching up the highest ever daily Total Crude Steel production of 11285 Tons from SMS-I and SMS-II together.
“This augurs well for RSP as the plant has embarked upon an enhanced production regime with its Blast Furnaces no. 4 and no. 5 producing Hot Metal at more than their rated capacity consistently over the last couple of months,” said RSP CEO, Aswini Kumar. The challenge before the Steel Melting Shops was to raise their performance in order to convert the increased quantity of Hot Metal produced into Crude Steel, he added.
The SAIL chairman PK Singh has hailed the RSP team for the achievement. The CEO and the ED(Works) BP Verma have exhorted the RSP team to achieve higher levels of production and productivity.
