Bhubaneswar: The Odisha MSME minister, Prafulla Samal, inaugurated the Raptani Bhawan (Export House), here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion the minister said that the state’s export business would touch Rs 1 lakh crore by 2025.
Stating that the MSME department is working in consultation with the Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) to give a boost to exports from the state, Samal said that the Raptani Bhawan would work as a facilitator for exporters of the state. According to him, the FIEO and the Odisha directorate of export promotion and marketing has already started working from the Raptani Bhawan. Merine Product Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and an office of director general of foreign trade would opened soon, he added.
The MSME additional chief secretary, LN Gupta, said that a new phase has started on export front. The state has recognised as Champion State among the states of the country with 114% growth in exports in 2016-17. This fiscal upto November, the state’s total export has touched Rs 27,000 crore , he added.
Software Technology Park of India director general Dr.Omkar Ray said that the IT & ITES exports from the state would be much more than the last year’s achievement of Rs 3,500 crore. By October 2017, the total export has touched Rs 2600 crore, he added.
The EPM director, SK Jena, also spoke on the occasion.
