Visakhapatnam: The sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,813 kg of ganja worth about Rs 2.71 crore from a van, said DRI in a press statement, here on Friday.
The DRI sleuths intercepted the van on the Howrah- Chennai National Highway on a tip off from a source and seized the ganja, which were in 361 brown packets of 5 kg each. The driver has been arrested and is being questioned to elicit further information regarding the illegal trade in narcotic drugs.
The contraband was procured from the tribal areas of Andhra-Odisha border region and was transported to Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
