Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced a slew of incentives for doctors and para-medicos to improve health services in the State.
Patnaik announced Rs 10 lakh award for best doctor and Rs 5 lakh award for para-medical employees in hospitals. Outstanding doctors and para-medicos will also be send on foreign junkets, he added.
Ten doctors and other para-medicos will be conferred Chief Minister Awards every year for their significant contribution to health services. The Award will carry a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for doctors and Rs 5 lakh for other employees. A high-level committee comprising of veteran doctors will select the health personality for the Award.
Medicos with 25 years of permanent service would be given promotion to the next rank on the day of his retirement taking into consideration his outstanding serviced well the society.
All the employees from doctors to security men of National Quality Accreditation Standard hospital would get one month salary as bonus in the next fiscal. Similarly, all the employees of hospitals conferred Kayakalpa Certification would be given 15 days salary as bonus in the next fiscal.
Employees of five hospitals selected for their service on the basis of the feedback from the users would be send on foreign junket. Even contractual employees would enjoy the benefit of LTC for a foreign trip.
Patnaik has said that the incentives are aimed at fueling a competition among the health institutions and health personnel so that they would achieve national level quality accreditation.
The chief minister’s decision came on the wake of the feedback received from the people as part of his 5Ts initiatives.
